Contest for the Longest Word

Some argue that place names don’t qualify in such a contest. Medical terms are also eliminated, but as a matter of interest, deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) has  207,000 letters, but no one has ever printed it out in full.

Others say that made up words like Mary Poppins ‘supercalifragilisticexpialidocious’ can’t compete. Comedian Jack Benny used to say that the longest word was one from his sponsor! Even dictionaries disagree on which word wins.

But I think I found the clear winner. It’s the word “smiles.” Are you ready for this? It has a mile between the first and the last letter! And it’s powerful. A smile can change everything. Even Job knew that.

When I smiled at them, they scarcely believed it; the light of my face was precious to them. (Job 29:24, NIV)

Prayer –  Thank you Lord for your smiling promise, the Lord bless you and keep you;  the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you;  the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.” (From Numbers 6:24-26, NIV).
