Fifty years ago, David Mainse had a vision for Christian television. He began a show which eventually became 100 Huntley Street, the daily Canadian Christian TV program. To date, the amazing statistics include 9000 daily shows, 17,000 personal stories and more than 9,000,000 calls on the 24/7 prayer lines.
God showed up big time, but there is more to the story than that.
My husband and I happened to be invited to a wedding that included many a Christian ‘bigwig” guest. Someone dropped a tissue on the carpet. The bride and groom made their way down the aisle after their “I do’s” and guests followed. Many of the ‘celebrity’ attendees caught their toe on that tissue but traipsed over it. Not David. He stopped, picked it up and put it in his pocket.
That small action told us all we needed to know about David Mainse and for that matter, all we needed to know about the other guests, including ourselves.
1 Samuel 2:3-Talk no more so very proudly; let not arrogance go forth from your mouth, for the Lord is a God of knowledge, and by Him actions are weighed.
The Lord certainly blesses 100 Huntley Street, but first a man prayed, obeyed and stayed in God’s will. I invite you to follow his blog, 100Words.ca as “retired” David Mainse continues to share his heart for God.
Prayer: Lord we often look admiringly and even enviously at the success of others, forgetting that they first knew and obeyed you no matter what. We choose to follow you that way right now, by your grace. For Christ’s Sake. Amen.
