If God Be for Us?

Sometimes it’s difficult to move forward.; one foot at a time, slow but sure, yet often our progress is minimal. A heaviness settles on our shoulders, our head droops regardless of how we try to keep it up, and fatigue sags our shoulders, and slows our steps even more.

Why does this happen to us? We are Christians, aren’t we? We are supposed to be happy-go-lucky all the time, a lilt to our voice, a gleam in our eye, and a skip-to-my-Lou step in our walk. So why the Sad Sack demeanor?

Face it…we ARE Christians, and as such we are prime targets for the enemy. With the daily grind of life constantly nipping at our heels, we become tired and worn, and thus our defenses fail us. Well, if we are not already shored up against the attacks, that is. It is much easier to break into a mud hut than a brick fortress. And we have the choice of being made of mud, or of much stronger, stouter, brick.

Ephesians 6:11 tells us to ‘Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.’ We have the ability to use that which God has so gracefully extended to us…His strength and protection.

Each day is a day of possibilities…not only for us, but for our enemy, who is, indeed, the devil. But we give those opportunities to him. He cannot have access to us unless we allow him to have it. He will try. He will whisper in our ear. He will send thoughts into our minds. He will bring other people and circumstances against us. But God has told us in His mighty Word what we are to do, what we can do, to withstand these attacks. It is to our detriment to not pay attention, to not prepare for the battles.

Before we start our day, we must commune with the One who is our Help. Spend time in the Word, and in fellowship with God. Then, in your mind’s eye, and believing in your heart that it is all very real, start putting on that Armor of God.

Slip on the Girdle of Truth. God’s Word spoken to satan will rebuff him without fail. Shod your feet in the Gospel of Peace. You can walk anywhere, on any type of ground, with the assurance that God has this! Carry your Shield of Faith, believing in the One Who died and rose again for you. Proudly wear the Helmet of Salvation, which declares Who you belong to. And swing the Sword of the Spirit, the very Word of God, by your side, to light your path and chase the darkness back to where it belongs.

These steps are not difficult steps. But they are the steps that will make ours much easier to take. They will bring the gleam back to our eyes, and our smile will be a smile of light, love, and hope. Our heads will be held high and proud with the knowledge that we are armed and dangerous for Christ.

‘What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?’ (Romans 8:31)

My Portfolio - - Christian Writer

I write the 'Rosebuds of Faith Devotional Series' on my personal blog, Ohiolilisview.blogspot.com/, and Angelwing Devotionals at angelwingdevotionals.wordpress.com. Currently working on a devotional e-book, I love to write about what God has done in my life and the lives of others. I am also available to speak to women about God and what He is to them, and what they are to Him! I am active in my church, and monitor a Ladies Prayer-Care-Share email site for the ladies of my church family. I am happily married, and though a born Yankee, I currently reside in the south, and love it! I believe God is just waiting to bless each of us...but it is up to us to see the blessing and to receive it...and then to give Him thanks!
