Being chosen, or not chosen, by others impacts our lives in many ways. A date with that special someone, landing the big promotion at work, and making the high school basketball team all hinge on being chosen by others. Where is God in the midst of this choosing? Well, He’s choosing, too. And He always chooses you.
. . . He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him.”--Ephesians 1:4 (NASB).
All of us have experienced the highs and lows of being chosen or not chosen. Did you ever start a Physical Education class by appointing two captains to pick players, one by one? The captains pick the great athletes and their best friends first. The poor kids who are picked last know that the captain chose them begrudgingly—not because they were wanted, but because they were the only ones left. Did you ever feel bad for those kids? Maybe you were you one of those kids.
I’ve got good news: God chooses you.
I’ve got even better news.
Because of the nature of the Chooser and how He chooses you, His choice trumps all others.
God Chooses You First!
God didn’t wait until all the best players were chosen before choosing you. In fact, He wanted you to be on His team so much that He chose you before the game even started! He chose you before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4)!
God Designed You with the Game in Mind.
When God spoke the universe into being, the very fabric of that universe contained His choice of you (Psalm 139:16). God’s design of the game included you being chosen first!
God’s Choice is for More Than Just the Game.
God’s choice includes you being washed clean of your sins, holy and blameless before Him, all through faith in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1:4). God’s choice adopts you into His family (Ephesians 1:5).
God Gave His Life to Choose You.
Even if you were the best player, do you think the team captain would have suffered and died to choose you? Well, that’s what God did. That’s how much God’s choice of you meant to Him (Ephesians 1:7).
God’s Choice is Good Forever.
After the PE class is over, after the game has been played, God is still choosing you, over and over again. God never stops choosing you.
So what do you do? Choose Him back! Get in the game! Play like the all-star God chose you to be. Remember, God always chooses you first. That’s the truth.
God chooses you to be the recipient of His gift of eternal salvation in Christ, who died on the cross for the privilege of choosing you, so that you would be holy and blameless before Him, so that youcould be adopted into His family. God’s choice of you was designed into the foundation of the world.
That’s the YouTruth. God chooses you.
