Betty wraps her gifts as she buys them, but she shops all year. When family and friends open their presents, Betty is as surprised as they are, because she long ago forgot what she wrapped.
When we give God his gift, that is, our sin, no matter the time of year, he wraps it up and stores it away. He must be surprised when we keep peeking at those wrapped and stored sins. Gone is gone. Leave the past alone and move into the joy of salvation without the guilt of heavy cartons of sin.
Let’s stop making judgement calls on ourselves based on our past sins.
"I try not to judge myself because even I haven't walked a mile in my own shoes."–Joanne Godwin
“Blessed are those whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord will never count against them.” (Romans 4:7, 8, Psalm 32, 1,2, NIV)
Prayer-Father God, Lord we promise never to peek at our past sins, no matter how pretty the bow or how shiny the paper. For Christ, who wrapped our sin away forever. Amen.
