American the Beautiful

Are you old enough to remember Canadian Gordon Sinclair’s speech, “The Americans?” It is still being passed around on the internet even though it was written and aired in 1973. You might like to catch up on it again. Here is the address.

His speech was so popular that it even became a hit record!

Yes, once again America struggles through some tough times. But like Gordon Sinclair said,

“Our neighbors have faced it alone, and I’m one Canadian who is damned tired of hearing them get kicked around. They will come out of this thing with their flag high. And when they do, they are entitled to thumb their nose at the lands that are gloating over their present troubles. I hope Canada is not one of those.” (From The Americans by Gordon Sinclair, 1973)

Have a wonderful celebration today, my American friends. Hold your heads high and depend on the faith that got you where you are. Jesus is all there is and Jesus is enough.

Prayer-Father we thank you for your kindness and your guiding hand to America all these years. Please remind our American friends of your grace and continue to grow them up into mature believers, trusting you for your best. Amen.
