Child and Pet Friendly

We all love our families, don’t we? We all love Christmas too. Unfortunately, the two don’t always work well together.

If you are still using a real Christmas tree, the water from the tree stand may be full of bacteria. (Not to mention the fact that a child or a pet might knock over said tree while crawling under it.

Liquid potpourris can be absorbed through the skin and dry ones cause all kinds of stomach troubles and worse.

Spare us all the trauma of giving an animal for the holiday. That kind of gift requires family agreement. Neither animal nor child will be happy in the long run.

The dangers of Poinsettias, holly, mistletoe and other pretty, but noxious flowers are well known. And we do know not to hang ornaments, tinsel or lights within the reach of pets or children.

Yes. Yes you say! I know all this.

But if we know this why are we still so careless about all of these things? Let this year be one of safety. After we’ve checked all these things, then we can…

In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety. (Psalm 4:8, NIV)

Prayer – Thanks God for reminding us to do what we can do to protect our loved ones and then leave the rest to you.  Amen
