Do you remember that Old English Carol, Christmas is a’comin’ and the geese are getting fat?
From the beginning to the end of the Bible, the good news is that Christmas (the Christ) is coming!
There are more than fifty Old Testament prophecies about the coming of Christ. Isaiah (53.5) foretold that Christ would be wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him, and with his stripes, we would be healed.
Elizabeth recognized the promise. Why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? (Luke 2:43)
In Luke 2:6, Mary and Joseph experienced it! Shepherds and Wisemen saw Christ for themselves. In the temple, Simeon and Anna saw and believed.
And here is an interesting thought. Herod was so afraid of Christ’s coming that he had all baby boys under the age of two, murdered.
You might say that the good, the bad, and the ugly all believed. Do you?
