My artist friend painted her studio an absolute pure white. She explained that if you are surrounded with an impure white, your work will take on that hue. For example, if you are surrounded by a blue white, the colours you paint will take on that blue white tint because you don’t have pure colour as a gauge.
Our true colour gauge is Christ. But over time if we aren’t careful, we add various other tints to the pure of Christ.
A few blue words here, a tinge of red anger there and before you know, we are no longer able to judge the truth.
A person who is pure of heart sees goodness and purity in everything; but a person whose own heart is evil and untrusting finds evil in everything, for his dirty mind and rebellious heart color all he sees and hears.
(Titus 1:5, TLB)
What I am eager for is that all the Christians there will be filled with love that comes from pure hearts, and that their minds will be clean and their faith strong.
(1 Timothy 1:5, TLB)
