I love desserts as much as everybody, but eventually we need bread, butter; fruit and vegetables.
The same applies to ministry. Do you search out only those words that tickle your fancy and tell you all the good things you can get from God? Beware! They are not your friend. Every now and then, we all need to hear the truth and sometimes the truth is painful.
Yes, God loves us and offers us his best but part two of every verse lists the conditions.
“Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. Condition- watch and pray. (Matthew 26:41)
You will inherit the earth. Condition- If you are gentle, meek and humble. (Matthew 5:5)
It will be given you. Condition- If you ask. (Matthew 7:7)
You will have eternal life. Condition: Believe that God Jesus to die for our sins. (John 3:16)
No one can be against you. Condition: When God is for you. (Romans 8:31)
We can do all things. Condition: If Christ strengthens us. (Philippians 4:13)
Do you see the danger of just taking the part of the verse that makes you happy? We can spout all day that we can do all things, but it isn’t true. We need Christ’s strength to accomplish all things he requires of us.
Check your dessert list. Make sure fruit and vegetables make it to your plate as well.
