Well it happened again. The elevator to our meeting from broke down. Our supplies were in the basement but they were needed on the third floor. Believe me, we quickly decided between essentials and frills. The essentials we needed to do business made it upstairs and the frills did not.
Wouldn’t it be great if life were that simple? Lately it has become so for me. My calendar was packed with endless stuff I had taken on for all the wrong reasons. Maybe you are there too.
- no one else signed up
- we can always depend on you
- you’ve always done this for us
- the other gal retired
- we need you because…
- we have no money and you always volunteer
- people made me feel guilty
I could go on but you get the idea. It is five months now and my arm is still recovering. The other day, I asked God what I should be doing and he answered…’Rest and recover.’
Lots of items have been stroked off my list of to-do and more will join them. I am sticking to what God wants me to do.
Strip yourselves of your former nature [put off and discard your old un-renewed self] which characterized your previous manner of life and becomes corrupt through lusts and desires that spring from delusion;
And be constantly renewed in the spirit of your mind [having a fresh mental and spiritual attitude], and put on the new nature (the regenerate self) created in God’s image, [Godlike] in true righteousness and holiness. (Ephesians 4:22-24, AMP)
Prayer- Lord, give us wisdom to choose between the essential and the fluffy and leave the fluffies in the basement. Amen.
