Even More

Scholars say there are almost 8,000 promises in the Bible. I’ve only scratched the surface.  If you read your Bible, you’ll find lots of them for yourself.

Again I caution you not to make them say what they don’t mean. For instance, the name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.”(Proverbs 18:10, NLT) And Psalm 138:7 tells us that though we surrounded by troubles, God will protect us from the anger of our enemies. He reaches out his hand and the power of his right hand saves us. That doesn’t mean that we won’t have troubles, be hurt or even die. It does mean that when we turn to Jesus in our troubles, he will be with us.

He helps us when we are tempted too. Hebrews 2:18 tells us so, but we have to turn away from that temptation (example-chocolate!) and pick an apple instead!  Philippians 4:19 promises that God supplies all our need BUT it is  according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Those riches are not necessarily the ones we have in mind. Instead they are the kind that Jesus offers.

Prayer – Oh God, give us sense to know what your word really means. Amen
