This is the name for the passing of cells from the mother’s bloodstream, into the baby’s and then circling around to repeat the cycle. This continues for the full term of pregnancy and even after the birth, some cells stay in the mom and leave a permanent imprint in the mom’s bone, tissue, brain, and even skin. This happens even if a pregnancy doesn’t go to full term. Fetal cells have even been discovered in a women’s brain many years after she gave birth.
Researchers found that the baby cells will try to prepare the mother and vice versa. This explains why some illnesses disappear when a woman is pregnant. For instance, my friends’ brutal arthritis always disappeared when she was pregnant!
The baby helps repair the mother, while the mother builds the baby. No wonder we are so connected to our children, long after they grow up and start their own families.
Oh, the miraculous ways of God.
As you know not what is the way of the wind, or how the spirit comes to the bones in the womb of a pregnant woman, even so, you know not the work of God, who does all. (Ecclesiastes 11:5)
