Food of the Season

Are you eating everything in sight just because it is the holiday season? Do you have a tummy ache from eggnog, gravy and Christmas desserts?

Has kale left your lips and cheesecake replaced it? Does the gym no longer know your name?
Have we left all common sense till January where we will begin the recovery that lasts till next November?

So it is and still, we continue to take long lingering naps after huge meals. We don’t move because that will wear off pounds and we want to suffer in January, right? We fill our buffet plate twice as high as everyone else and then go back for seconds or thirds. That doesn’t even begin to count the desserts.

What does that get us? Nothing but troubles, self –denial, and anguish come the New Year.

Run those occasions through this scripture and it might help curb our bad habits.

For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.

If you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins. (2 Peter 5-6, NIV)

Prayer- Lord, help us not make the same mistakes as we did last year. Amen.
