Getting Started

Generally, we should not let small things bother us because in the scheme of life they are all puny. Why yell at the children if they get dirt on the floor?  We wouldn’t scream at Aunt Petunia if she mucked up our house, especially if we were named in her will.

There is one small detail though, that many of us overlook. If we don’t get mop and broom out and attack the floor it stays dirty. If we don’t get started at something, we never finish it.

Some of us treat relationship with Christ as a small thing. We don’t want to be bothered with all that. We decide to wait till a more convenient time to ask Him into our lives. But if we don’t get started, we’ll never have the chance for a good finish. It all begins with the first step toward what you know you are called to do.

The first step is so tiny. Just read this little prayer aloud.

Dear Lord, I want to know you personally. I know that I have done wrong and I am sorry. I am willing, with your help to turn away from my sins and turn to you. I believe, Jesus that You died and rose from the dead, just for me. I receive You as my Savior and Lord as best as I know how, right now. Amen.

Now tell someone that you prayed this prayer. Take comfort, knowing that like the Apostle Paul, you are heading in the right direction.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. (2 Timothy 4:7)

Prayer: Thank you Lord for this small step which is the biggest step of our lives! Amen.
