Ground Hogs and Glory

A funeral procession traveled through the park where “Willie will be honored with the statue of his likeness.” Mourners signed a memory book at the town hall. And all this was in honor of weather predictor, Wiarton Willie, the town groundhog. TV and radio shows carried the news around the country.

Meanwhile, Rev. David Mainse, founder of Crossroads Christian Communications and Canada’s longest running daily Christian talk show 100 Huntley Street, died at the age of 81 with not half the fanfare.

What do we count as important in our life? Do we follow truth or do we follow fantasy? It’s easy to fall into one or the other but God calls us to make a definite choice.

But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. (Philippians 3:7, NIV)

Prayer- Lord, give us the smarts to make the choices that really count. Amen.
