My friend never married and while she doesn’t miss a husband too much, she used to regret not giving birth to a child. Now she smiles and admits she only missed out on stretch marks, labor pains and college fees.
The Bible says that the barren woman should sing because she did not bear children and the spiritual children of the desolate one will be more than all the children of the married wife. (Isaiah 54:1-AMP)
While most parents and grandparents strive to raise blood relative grandchildren, my friend spends her energy, wisdom and love on many spiritual children.
After all, the Bible says ‘He makes the barren woman to be a homemaker and a joyful mother of spiritual children’ (Psalm 113:9 -AMP)
And little by little, over the years, she became the spiritual mother who influenced young lives for good.
Today her life is full and overflowing with all the children she thought she would never have.
Her offspring possess the nations and make desolate cities to be inhabited. (Isaiah 54:3 AMP)
She may not have physically given birth but her heart has not missed out on any parental love.
Barren? Not her! She claims motherhood to hundreds, and grandma to thousands! She laughs with delight and asks “What more could a mother ask?”
Prayer: Father, when we don’t like our circumstances, teach us to trust you in them and expect the best. For the sake of Christ, our Lord. Amen
