I’ll Do Anything

John 15:1I am the true vine and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that bears fruit he trims clean so that it will be even more fruitful (KJV).

(Me) “Oh Lord, Why Me? Why Me?’ I cry!
Please listen to my alibi!
I like that _________________. It is my life.
Don’t wound me so with pruning knife.
I’ll give up wine: I’ve never used it!
I’ll give up lettuce: I’ve ne’er abused it!
I’ll start to pray six hours a day,
And read my Bible till light of day.
I’ll do anything you ask, Dear Lord.
I’ll go anywhere that you say.
But please don’t cut out my ___________Dear Lord.
Just this once, let me have my own way!”

(GOD)  “If you so desire to please yourself,
I may have to set you aside on a shelf.
My pruning shears still follow you,
Because to your best I’ll always be true.”

John 15:1 is clear. We’re pruned if we do and we’re pruned if we don’t. Either way we are pruned. Let‘s get with God’s plan now!

Prayer: Dear Gardening Father, make us branches willing to be pruned for your glory. Amen.
