The only reason we haven’t added JUST to the Lord’s Prayer is that we have it memorized.
“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.” The Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6:9–13)
However; today’s vernacular would sound like this.
“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
JUST give us this day our daily bread, and JUST forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And JUST lead us not into temptation, but JUST deliver us from evil.” (Matthew 6:9–13)
Friends we pray JUST BARELY ENOUGH prayers because we don’t believe our God is big enough to answer big prayers.
Prayer-Lord, help us learn your way to pray, without using the negative JUST prayers that are so common among us.
