Just Trying to Keep Up

I’m away all day on errands but my to-do list is still a million miles long. AND my brother is coming to spend the weekend. AND I won’t be home in time to cook a decent dinner.

Doesn’t your head sometimes spin with the things life requires? Many of you juggle children, pets, day care, full time jobs, housework and more. Let’s make a few conscientiously wise choices. The house need not be spotless. As a child once said…I know God created us from dust so someone is either coming or going under my bed!

If we take care of the food, most everyone will be happy!

John 21:15b- Jesus said “Feed my lambs.”

I do have some favorite take-out places on speed dial but this crock-pot stew recipe is a gem. Layer the ingredients in your crock-pot as listed.  Put the lid on, set the dial on low and let it simmer for four to six hours. It feeds four to six people but easily multiplies to feed a crowd.

Brenda’s Crockpot Stew

1 ½ pounds stewing beef, rinsed and patted dry
1-2 sliced cooking onions
4 large carrots, peeled, cut in 4-5 large chunks
4 medium potatoes, peeled, quartered
1 cup white mushrooms (optional)
3-4 tablespoons salsa
1 can of cream of mushroom or cream of celery soup

There are all kinds of ways to feed lambs. When essentials like a decent meal are in place and stomachs are full, those lambs will more easily be able to hear about the food we offer for their spirits.

John 21:15-When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?” “Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.”

Prayer:  Lord, help us do what matters, not what always grabs our attention. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
