There was a certain man there who had suffered with a deep-seated and lingering disorder for thirty-eight years. (John 5:5)
How long have you suffered; with fear, anxiety, illness, depression or other disabilities?
Jesus noticed him lying there [helpless], knowing that he had already been a long time in that condition. (John 5:6) Are you waiting for Jesus to notice you? Friends, he already has and he is asking you this question. “Do you want to become well? Are you really in earnest about getting well?
Or are you making excuses?
The invalid answered, Sir, I have nobody when the water is moving to put me into the pool; but while I am trying to come [into it] myself, somebody else steps down ahead of me. (John 5:7)
The man had to actually do something. He had to take up his bed and walk. (John 5:8) How will your life change if you are healed? Will you have to forgive, get a job, start exercising? Are you willing to do that?
Be honest, especially with God and with yourself.
