Looking Out

My cousin Shirley has no patience with anyone who falls down. She earned the right to speak up when she lost both her legs due to illness.

Like Shirley, God prefers that we do not fall; however, he does offer help when we do.

The LORD upholds all who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down. (Psalm 145:14, NIV)

Sometimes, though, he expects us to be the helper. Let’s be on the lookout for one another.

Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor:

If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.

But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. (Ecclesiastes 4:9-11)

Let’s thank God for those in our life who help us get up and out of anything; from laziness, the doldrums, illness, fear, and even worse.

And yes, also thank God for the Christ who got up and came down to earth for us so that we might get up and be our best.
