Many years ago, shortly after my husband Ron died, my long-distance friend Fern, anticipated my MRD (Missing Ron Day) and sent me this message.
“Here’s a song for you to sing in the dark times.” She added the words to Trusting Jesus.
Simply trusting every day, trusting through a stormy way;
Even when my faith is small, trusting Jesus, that is all.
Chorus: Trusting as the moments fly, trusting as the days go by;
Trusting Him whate’er befall, trusting Jesus, that is all.
The following verses include lines like While he leads, I cannot fall; Singing if my way is clear,
Praying if the path be drear; If in danger for Him call. Still, the often-repeated line is Trusting Jesus, that is all.
Now it’s Fern’s turn. Her husband just moved to long-term care. And I sent her this message so that she too, will remember to sing in the dark times.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and l make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6, NIV)
