Luke 20 has three separate units, but all are based on Christ’s authority and other people’s refusal to accept it. In Luke 20:1-8, folks want to know if Christ has authority; while 9-18 reveal his authority, and 19-47 detail how others resented his authority.
Where do you fall in this chapter?
Where is Christ asking for your submission to his authority? Where are you rebelling when times get tough? For instance, how are you handling Covid restrictions? Who are you disobeying? Remember that the government is the authority that God created.
And it is trouble ahead if you’re satisfied with yourself. Your self will not satisfy you for long. And it is trouble ahead if you think life’s all fun and games. There’s suffering to be met, and you’re going to meet it. (Luke 6:25, MSG)
Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established.
(Romans 13:1, NIV)
