Made Sport

This line always made a comedian’s audience laugh. “I didn’t come here to be made sport of.”

Well, I ask you, who did! None of us wants to be the butt of laughter, derision and shame.

But that is exactly what happened to Jesus.

And, weaving a crown of thorns, they put it on His head and put a reed (staff) in His right hand. And kneeling before Him, they made sport of Him, saying, Hail (greetings, good health to You, long life to You), King of the Jews! (Matthew 27:29, AMP)

In the same way the chief priests, with the scribes and elders, made sport of Him, saying,He rescued others from death; Himself He cannot rescue from death. He is the King of Israel? Let Him come down from the cross now, and we will believe in and acknowledge and cleave to Him. (Matthew 27:41-42, AMP)

Surely we do not make sport of Him do we?

Prayer: Lord, examine our hearts. Point out any place we mock your blessed Son in any way. Then correct us. For Christ. Amen.
