In spite of overwhelming odds, Marilyn is one of the most positive and upbeat people I know. She continually looks for ways to deepen her connection with God. I am privileged to share her prayer here. Please adapt it. Make it your own. It is based on Romans 12:1-2.
Luke 14:33-So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple (NKJV).
Lord, I absolutely surrender to you, my spirit, will, mind, emotions, body, and circumstances.
I give you my plans for my future, my family, dreams, hopes,, past successes, failures and habits.
As well, I give you all my problems, my relationships and my finances. If I am clinging to any other rights, show me what they are, Lord, so that I can surrender them to you as well.
Also, Lord, I give up my rights to pleasant circumstances, to being accepted, successful or rescued. I give you my right to possessions, rescue from circumstances, and seeing any results. I give up the right to know your will, to be proven right, to be loved. I hand you my right to have mate or children, and even the right to be used by you, to choose where I will live and to have the job I want. Signed______________________ Date__________________
Prayer: Lord, I give you permission to do anything you wish to me, with me, in me, through me that will glorify you. I used to claim these rights as mine but now they are yours and are under your control. Do with me what you please, because you always could. In Christ’s name. Amen.
