May I?

And he said, Oh, my Lord, I pray You, send by the hand of [some other] whom You will [send]. (Exodus 4:13, AMP)

And look at Gideon in Judges 6:15.

Gideon said to Him, Oh Lord, how can I deliver Israel?

Did you ever play the children’s game “Mother, May I?  The person in charge (Mother) stands about 10-12 feet away from the others. They cry out “Mother may I” and ‘Mom’  instructs the child to take five steps forward, or leap like a frog two times while singing Happy Birthday!” BUT before they move, they must ask… “Mother, May I?”  Eventually they forget the “May I?” This sends them back to the starting line to begin all over again.

When God calls us we don’t say ‘May I’ either. We say ‘Who, Me???”

Just look at Moses. He understood perfectly well what God asked him to do but he didn’t want to do it.

Behold, my clan is the poorest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house. (AMP)

And just look at you and at me. Perhaps today we might stop asking Who, me? Instead we could say “Here I am, Lord, send me!”

Prayer-Lord when we hear your voice asking Whom shall I send? And who will go for Us? Then may we quickly answer, Here am I, Lord ; send me. In Christ. Amen.  (from Isaiah 6:8, AMP)
