Meddlesome Gossip

Yes, we are still in Proverbs and here are some truths about those of us who still gossip and think it doesn’t matter.

He who, passing by, stops to meddle with strife that is none of his business is like one who takes a dog by the ears.

Where there is no whisperer, contention ceases.

The words of a whisperer or slanderer are like dainty morsels or words of sport [to some, but to others are like deadly wounds]; and they go down into the innermost parts of the body [or of the victim’s nature].

Whoever digs a pit [for another man’s feet] shall fall into it himself, and he who rolls a stone [up a height to do mischief], it will return upon him.

A lying tongue hates those it wounds and crushes, and a flattering mouth works ruin. (From Proverbs 26:17-28, AMP)

Prayer – Lord, we are ashamed of some of the things our mouths have passed on. Forgive us. Cleanse us. Help us make amends. Amen
