Never ever give up! We say it to others but do we mean it and do it ourselves? When Ron was here with me, we never seemed to be dismayed at the same time. One would encourage the other and on we would go. Now it is not so easy. If circumstances or whatever depress me, I have nowhere to go, and no one to turn to. OH, WAIT! God is my turn-to-guy!
In the Message Bible, Nehemiah 6 is titled, “I’m doing a great work; I can’t come down.” Nehemiah surely had lots of reasons to give up on his building project. It seemed everything was against him.
They were trying to intimidate us into quitting. They thought, “They’ll give up; they’ll never finish it.” BUT (italics mine!) I prayed, “Give me strength.” (Jeremiah 6: 9, MSG)
Now we may not be building a wall around Jerusalem, but we are called to do a great work for God in our own way. Let’s at it.
Prayer: Lord, whenever the circumstances of life seem too much to bear, remind us all over again, that you are our answer. In Christ. Amen.
