The Obamas have settled on a pet but are still searching for a church home.
The Obamas have chosen a 6-month-old Portugese water dog as the first pet. The puppy, which the Washington Post reports will be named Bo, is scheduled to arrive at the White House on Tuesday. According to the Post, Bo is a reference to singer “Bo” Diddley. First lady Michelle Obama’s father was nicknamed “Diddley.”
The Obamas chose to worship Easter Sunday at St. John’s Church near the White House. St. John’s is often referred to as the “church of presidents” since several past chief executives have attended there. The Obamas still have not settled on a permanent church home in the D.C. area.
It’s a lot easier to pick a dog than it is to pick a church. It took my wife and me years to settle on the church that we now call home and I know many Christians who are not part of a congregation and haven’t been for many years. They are still Christians and their faith plays a major role in their daily lives.
