Obedience on Palm Sunday

Matthew chapter 21 begins this way.

And when they came near Jerusalem… Jesus sent two disciples on ahead. Saying, “Go into the village, you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her; bring [them] to Me. If anyone says anything to you, you shall reply, The Lord needs them, and he will let them go without delay.”

This happened that what was spoken by the prophet might be fulfilled, saying, Say to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, Behold, your King is coming to you, lowly and riding on a donkey…

Then the disciples went and did as Jesus had directed them. (From Matthew 21:1-6, AMP)

Do you see the absurdity in this? Go who-knows-where in the village, take a donkey without permission and oh, by the way, if anyone says anything to you, just say the Lord needs them.

The key statement though, is this line: Then the disciples went and did as Jesus had directed them.

Do we obey God? Even in the midst of absurdity? Why/ why not?

So if you find life difficult because you’re doing what God said, take it in stride. Trust him. He knows what he’s doing, and he’ll keep on doing it. (1 Peter 4:19, MSG)

Prayer – God, our life seems impossible right now, but we go forward in the knowledge that you know what you are doing. Amen
