Old Letters

I’ve been cleaning out boxes and cupboards and finding treasures from the past. Dear Maybeth Gray declared these truths on a Christmas note to us. They still hold true today.

We are but mirrors to reflect the glory of God. And a mirror never calls attention to itself, unless it is flawed.

For those who have faith, no explanation is necessary. For those who don’t, none is possible.

Feet accustomed to the road to God can find it in the dark.

When waves of temptation roll in, God never lowers the standard of holiness. He raises the grace level. (William Bagby)

Our Father refreshes us on the journey with some pleasant inns but will not encourage us to mistake them for home. (C.S. Lewis)

And she included this final one.

Timidly shrinking from whatever might offend God and discredit the name of Christ. (Philippians 2:12b, AMP).

Prayer-Father, words encourage us to be sure, but the ones with the most impact are yours and yours alone. Amen.
