One Step at a Time

I guess you’ve never experienced the Blahs but I am well acquainted with them. They come on when you least expect it and eat up all your joy. They strand you in an ocean of tears so thick that you can’t swim to shore.

Everyone has their own method for getting rid of them. Praise and prayer are great but sometimes they need an extra shove.

Are you familiar with the walking cure? It’s rather simple really. You just get up and put one foot in front of another. Endorphins (or some such thing) click in when we move our bodies. The first few minutes may seem like torture but after a while, you will sense your mood lightening, your heart lifting and your smile re-appearing. You making motions create better emotions. (Even as I write this line I recognize its corniness, but it is true!)

“One step at a time, takes you forward in life. Each step you take inspires others to do the same.”–Patricia Day: author of Eleanor, A Stolen Childhood

That applies to our spiritual walk too. We may not be able to walk on water like Jesus did (Matthew 14) but we can surely walk by faith.

2 Corinthians 5:7- For we walk by faith, not by sight (KJV).

Prayer: Lord, when we get hung up on ourselves remind us to get on our running shoes, get off the couch and move into physical and spiritual wellness. Amen.
