We couldn’t believe our eyes when we went to dinner at our favourite restaurant. Its country décor had disappeared and now sleek black and white furnishings dominated the interior.
What had happened? How would this affect us? Would our quarter chicken dinner taste the same? Oh, the angst till our meals arrived. The food tasted even better, or so it seemed to us.
Our life at our local church is in constant renovation. The pastors change, the décor switches, the music upgrades from hymns to choruses. And yet when we taste, we find that the Lord is still good!
So bravely try your church again. If they were preaching Jesus before the décor, they likely still are. Your return might encourage others. Like Billy Graham once said, “When a brave man takes a stand, the spines of others are stiffened.”
The truth is that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. (Hebrews 13:8, KJV)
Prayer – Lord God, forgive us for getting sidetracked by what is going on around us, instead of trusting what we really know to be true: you. Amen
