How well do you organize your food? Are you a hoarder of canned beans or corn? Do you stockpile just in case? Do some foods go rancid or out of date in the back of your pantry?
It seems we are afraid of starving so we hoard. And then we end up throwing out about 12% of what we buy. Think of your salary and visualize tossing 12-15% of it out the window or into the recycling pile?
So, let’s store and then as necessary, rotate our food by date.
Decide that this week you will only cook with what you have in the house already. By doing that you will use up what you have, waste less, avoid the grocery aisles and stop overbuying. spend less time shopping, and save money by not overbuying.
Why not google something like “eat from your pantry” and take the challenges that come up.
Matthew 6:19-21 – “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Luke 12:15 Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”
Are you a hoarder, greedy to stock your cupboards with things that you won’t ever use?
