We want things when we want them, don’t we? We want a new car, so we buy, even when the old one is still sturdy. We want cookies so we no longer bake them, we run to the corner shop. We want to be married so some have picked the spouse just because we are anxious, not because it is the right person for us. We want what we want when we want it.
If we want to have what we want, this is the way to start.
Delight yourself in the Lord. (Psalm 37:4)
Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act. (Psalm 37:5)
The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord. All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the spirit. Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established. (Proverbs 16:1-3)
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness. (Matthew 6:33)
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. (Proverbs 3:5)
The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps. (Proverbs 16:9)
I pray this on your behalf.
May he grant you your heart’s desire and fulfill all your plans! (Psalm 20:4)
