The purchases I made at the book store came in a bag full of words. Storytelling, literature, fiction, the joy of the table, biography, real food, music, imagination and sleep-filled the side of the bag.
What kind of store fulfills all these needs; I ask you? Why a book store of course. This bag came from my local indigo store.
Now lots of places offer great things but only a book store full of creative and imaginative writing could actually fulfill all these promises. My book store gives me a promise bag when I buy a book.
The Bible works much the same way. I buy into God’s word by believing in Jesus, the Son of God. Then I get to indulge in his promises of forgiveness of sin, eternal life, and the Holy Spirit who comes to live in me.
After John was arrested, Jesus went to Galilee preaching the Message of God: “Time’s up! God’s kingdom is here. Change your life and believe the Message.”
(Mark 1:14-15, MSG)
