Passover

Passover celebrates the Israelites escape from Egypt. It is called Passover because they were asked to mark their door frames with the blood of their lamb meal.

Take a bunch of hyssop, dip it into the blood in the basin and put some of the blood on the top and on both sides of the doorframe. None of you shall go out of the door of your house until morning.
When the Lord goes through the land to strike down the Egyptians, he will see the blood on the top and sides of the doorframe and will pass over that doorway, and he will not permit the destroyer to enter your houses and strike you down. (Exodus 12:22-23, NIV)

Does this remind you of anything? Of course it is the precursor of the Christ. Surely you remember the Christ? The Christ who sacrificed all for us, to cleanse us from our sins and to offer us eternal life?

And right now around the world, we are behaving like heathens who do not believe in Him but instead put our faith in multiple rolls of toilet paper! Or in bottled water which by the way comes to most of us free, in our tap water. Or sanitizer which is second in cleanliness to plain old soap and water!

Shame on us; and don’t fall for phoney cures. There aren’t any. Our only defence is cleanliness before the Lord

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:3-6, NIV)

Prayer- Lord, help us use the teensy bit of common sense we have left. Amen.
