Picnic Parties

Who doesn’t love a good picnic? I think along John-Boy Walton family lines. I envision a blanket spread on the side of a mountain. Fried chicken in the basket and smiling relatives everywhere.

That might not be practical, but here are some plans for your best picnic, wherever it might be.

Some things you might forget to pack include utensils, blanket or tablecloth, salt and pepper, can opener, paring knife, hand wipes, insect repellant, sunscreen and garbage bags.

Keep cold foods cold (40 degrees or colder) and hot foots hot (140 degrees plus). Leftovers are best discarded. Never leave trash behind you.

We pack so carefully for these small excursions, don’t we? How carefully do we pack for longer trips like, for example, going to heaven?

That trip starts with believing in Jesus as our personal Saviour. (John 3:16)

And when we do that, we no longer have to fear death. (Psalm 23:4)

Death is swallowed up in victory. (1 Corinthians 15:54)

Take some friends on the journey. Tell others about your Jesus (Mark 16:15)

Store up treasure in heaven (Matthew 6:20). Do good, and be generous. (1 Timothy 6:18)

What a picnic that will be!
