Present with the Lord

The little one asked me, “What if we die in the middle of our prayer? Does God hear it?”
I had to think a while on this one. I checked out the passage below and then I said, “If you die in the middle of your prayer, than you get to finish your prayer in person.”

She smiled her wise eight-year-old smile and replied, “That’s exactly what I thought.”

Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: (For we walk by faith, not by sight.) We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. (2 Corinthians 5:6-8, NIV)

Paul is quite clear that when we are absent from our bodies, we are present with the Lord. Our bodies stay here on earth until the Lord returns, but our spirit is with him. What a relief to know that.

Notice also that Paul says that to be with the Lord is by far the better place.

Prayer – Lord as we pray to you this very minute, we anticipate that at some wonderful moment we will be with you! Thank you and Amen
