It doesn’t matter what you call it. An addiction is an addiction. It might be to food, smoking, pornography or gambling. It doesn’t matter what you call it, it is something that takes you away from God and the life he has planned for you.
How will we explain to God the’ fun’ of sitting in front of a machine and pulling the handle for three hours? Is it any different than sitting in front of a fridge and pulling that handle or switching on the computer to watch forbidden fruit?
The dictionary says that a handle is to operate or make use of something with the hands. Oh, dear friends, those handles are touched by our hands. It is where our hands go that matter.
As my granny always said, idle hands are the devil’s workshop. What are your idle hands up to today? Perhaps we should spell idle like it really is. That spelling is an idol, the worship of something that is not God.
