Refined Like Silver

Microbes don’t stick to silver. For example, a (real) silver dollar in a milk bottle will keep the milk fresh. Silver-lined water containers aboard ships/planes keep water safe for months. Before antibiotics, doctors used to put a derivative of silver in the eyes of newborns to prevent blindness.

Here’s the truth of it. Silver has antibacterial properties. The scientific name is the Oligodynamic Effect. Now we can more fully understand this verse.

For You, O God, have proved us; you have tried us as silver is tried, refined, and purified. (Psalm 66:10, AMP)

As God refines us, we become like silver and then we share Christ and thus share the Oligodynamic Effect with others. 

Prayer- Lord, refine us like silver and then help us share our silver-ness with those around us. Amen.
