Sam and Ella’s Cafe

I sent this line to about twenty friends.

Be careful if you eat at Sam and Ella’s Café!  Only one person got it and did not query me!

The rest wrote things like this. Why? Where is it? OK. What did you eat? It must be a writing prompt. I’ve never heard of it. Who are Sam and Ella?

And then I said, “Folks, it is a joke! Salm-on-ella!”

And I got replies like this.

“I haven’t eaten out since January. You got salmonella at that place? Oh, that’s not good. I almost choked on my salad.”

And that is exactly how we live life; without real honest-to-goodness understanding. We read into God’s word what we will. We jump to conclusions. We dodge what is staring us in the face…and just maybe we have no sense of humour either.

I sent my new book, Happy Daze, L.I.F.E. after 40 to an unsaved friend. I asked for a review.

He said, “Well, it is different. It’s not Louis Lamour. I guess it’s ok for church.”

I wrote back that the book is for everyone because we all need the good news of Jesus Christ..

When you have the chance to hear about Jesus, what do you do with it? Fail to understand it, dismiss it as though it was for someone else? Ignore it completely?

Friends, this is no joke. Heaven or hell is at your fingertips. Which one will you pick?

Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

(Matthew 10:28, NIV)
