Holiness is a scary word because we like our sins too much. Ah, yes, we know they should be abandoned, but they are so much fun! Does God really want me to give up………?
Yes, he does.
Are we willing to give up what seems like good for the perfect, full, and abiding life with Jesus as our Lord and Saviour?
You must be holy because I, the LORD your God, am holy” (Leviticus 19:2). God wants relationships and he wants us to be nourished in that relationship.
Quadosh, is used 116 times in the Old Testament. It means selected, pure and sacred. God is a pure being and he wants relationships with others of the same sort. Now, he willingly calls and takes us as we are, but over time he expects us to change and become more like him.
Our living in that holiness shows respect for God, just as an obedient child blesses a parent, so we bless God by purposely living like him.
Warning: You can’t do this all by yourself. That is why we ask God for help.
Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness, no one will see the Lord. Hebrews 12;14, NIV)
