Then Jesus tells of a man who is desperate for bread to feed a visitor. (Luke 11:5-11) It’s late but he calls on a good friend to lend him bread. The friend is awake now, but no matter. He replies,
‘Don’t bother me. The door is already locked, and my children and I are in bed. I can’t get up and give you anything.’
(Luke 11:7, NIV)
And Jesus tells the disciples this.
Even though he will not get up and give you the bread because of friendship, yet because of your shameless audacity, he will surely get up and give you as much as you need.
(Luke 11:7, NIV)
How persistent are we in prayer?
One of our pastors, Pastor Sharpe told us how his mother and his eight children siblings prayed for their father to come to know the Lord Jesus Christ as their savior. Pastor Sharpe told us, with tears in his eyes, that his father, will into his nineties, finally made that decision.
How long have your Christian friends and relatives been praying for you?
Dear Prayers, do not give up on them.
“So, I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
(Luke 11:9, NIV)
