My brothers and sisters, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring that person back, remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins. (James 5:19-20, NIV)
The truth is that if we are a Christian and see others who call themselves Christian, we are obliged to speak up. Wouldn’t you call your child off a busy street or away from a fiery blaze?
Of course, you would. You will be in good company because Jesus did that all the time. Note the woman caught in adultery. Jesus tells her “Go now and leave your life of sin.”
He died so that our sins would be forgiven. Sin separates us from God. Why would we leave a fellow Christian to get deeper into their mess?
A kind word about their failings can turn a life around.
