Spirit of the Living God

Do you know this old hymn by Daniel Iverson? By its very essence it draws us into prayer.

Spirit of the living God,
Fall afresh on me.
Melt me, mold me, fill me, use me.
Spirit of the living God,
Fall afresh on me.

What happens when the Spirit does fall afresh? For that matter what happened when we first asked Jesus into our life? The Holy Spirit came to live in us!

With the Spirit’s help, we are able to do more, be more, and love more.

Perhaps this little story might make it easier to understand.

It is said that Charles Spurgeon often worked 18 hours a day. Famous explorer and missionary David Livingstone once asked him, “How do you manage to do two men’s work in a single day?” Spurgeon replied, “You have forgotten that there are two of us.”

For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. (Matthew 18:20, NIV)

Prayer – Father, thank you for your Holy Spirit who has come to live in us! Amen
