Don’t be fooled by breastplates in Hollywood movies. They were never one large piece of metal, outlining the physique of the male lead. No, instead they were made of layers of metal, overlapping one another, and were used as a protection for the heart, lungs and the stomach.
Paul recommends the full armour to us, because we are fighting spiritual battles.
Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
And our protection is as follows.
Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place. Ephesians 6:11-14)
This is our spiritual CPR to protect our hearts.
C- Confess and turn from your sins. (Therefore, confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. James 5:16)
P-Pursue holiness. (Therefore, confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. Ephesians 4:24)
R-Rest in Jesus. (“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28)
