Sports Fans Olympics

So the Olympics are cancelled; a sorry state of affairs for sure. We must find ways to entertain ourselves by creating our own Olympics. Personally, I spend a lot of time walking a daily 10,000 steps in my home.

Let’s see what we have to do to create our own Olympics, shall we?

Now every athlete who goes into training conducts himself temperately and restricts himself in all things. They do it to win a wreath that will soon wither, but we [do it to receive a crown of eternal blessedness] that cannot wither. Therefore I do not run uncertainly (without definite aim). I do not box like one beating the air and striking without an adversary. (1Corinthians 9:25-26, AMPC)

Paul says our training should include temperate living which is living mildly or without extremes. Extreme is our biggest problem, isn’t it. For instance we have to eat but we don’t have to eat more than our body needs.

Our prize is glorifying the Christ. Boxers train by beating the air but when it comes right down to it, they face opponents. Our opponent is satan and he would love to beat us, BUT with Christ helping us, we can and do beat him.

Take aim at your enemies, friends. You can beat those bad habits into a pulp when Christ is your trainer and your back up guy.

Prayer- Lord we run hard for the finish line. We give it everything we’ve got. No sloppy living for us! We stay alert and in top condition. We are not caught napping; Christ helping us. Amen (From 1 Corinthians 9: 25-27, MSG).
