Sticky Questions

“Why do I have sticks in my food?” asked my husband, Ronald.

“I’m trying a new herb.”  I answered back. “It’s not sticks; it’s only rosemary. You know what they say, rosemary for remembrance.”

“I hope not to remember this again.” He replied.

Do you ever ask God that same question?  “Why are there sticks in our life, God?”

We see our troubles as just that, but God is using those sticks for our remembrance. Today they stick in our craw as a problem, but tomorrow, we look back on them, remembering how God stuck with us and helped us through.

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”  (John 16:33, NIV)

Clearly, this is another reason to journal.

Prayer – Lord, don’t let us avoid any sticks that you plan to use for our good. Amen
